Herbal Remedies
Most herbal remedies for varicose veins begin with the same basic premise: keep your veins moving. You can do this by stimulating blood flow and reducing fluid buildup.
Three main herbs are used to treat varicose veins, and each is best used in a slightly different way. Ginger, when applied topically, can be a very effective treatment for temporary relief of pain and swelling around the vein. It leaves no residue, so it’s an ideal choice for people who don’t want to add anything to their bodies through ingestion or absorption.
Dandelion has some of the same properties as ginger, but it is best taken orally for long-term relief from varicose veins. It draws out fluids from the body, flushing them away and preventing them from reabsorbing. This makes it an effective treatment for chronic swelling caused by poor circulation.
Finally, garlic is also popularly used in many treatments for varicose veins. Garlic helps increase circulation by dilating blood vessels and encouraging blood flow throughout the body. You can take it the same way as dandelion or apply it topically to help encourage more blood flow around troublesome body areas.
